What We Do
Who We Are
Move Into Light® began in 2022 as an idea for a 5K event to support addiction harm reduction, reduce stigma, and promote mental health. Around the same time, Parrish Healthcare sought to create a community event for North Brevard County, Florida. In response, Move Into Light evolved into a free community resource event with guest speakers, music, and family activities.
Building on that momentum, it has grown into a national initiative. Today, Move Into Light® includes outreach to businesses on the impact of addiction; education on overdose response and naloxone use; overdose awareness and prevention trainings; media campaigns; information on treatment options; support for parent and civic groups—especially those serving underserved and under-resourced communities; and partnerships with organizations focused on mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders.
It also works to dispel myths about addiction, inform the public about drug misuse prevention and treatment options, and highlight the human side of addiction’s impact on families and communities—not just the individual. The goal is to prevent future generations from misusing substances or becoming addicted while supporting those in recovery, helping their families and future children break the cycle of addiction and begin a path to healing.

MOVE INTO LIGHT® is an independently owned initiative with support from entities funded by the ONDCP Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program through the CDC and SAMHSA, and ENTITIES sponsored in part by Central Florida Cares Health System, Inc. and the State of Florida, Department of Children and Families.
